This weekend, I decided that I am changing my focus from mini albums to card making. There are many reasons for my change in direction.
- They take a long time to make. Mini albums can take a month for me to make. By the third week, my ADD gets to me and I have to struggle to finish the album. Then, I am burned out from crafting which is something that I don’t want to happen. I love to craft and making cards affords me the ability to finish a card in a couple of hours. Then I get to see results. 🙂
- Making mini albums are expensive. The supplies needed to make one album can blow my whole spending allotment for a couple months. It takes up to 2 pattern paper pads plus all the embellishments, dies, adhesive and cardstock to make one album. In fact, I use enough cardstock to make 50 to 100 cards in just one album. Sometimes, the cost to make the album can cost over $200.00 in supplies. I can use that money to purchase new stamps that I can use over and over again
- I am tired. I work long hours and working on something that takes so long takes it out of me. I am still recovering from my thyroid removal working with the doctor on getting my medicine correct. Some days are better than others and on those days I would love to have instant gratification from a card.
- Get to try new techniques. Basically, a mini album is constructed the same way. It has flaps and pockets but the techniques are the same. With cards, I am learning scene building, different embossing techniques, stamps and dies and my favorite coloring.
This weekend, I went through my craft room and did a major cleanup. I listed some on eBay and the rest will be donated to the wounded Veterans so they can sell it to help their organization. With the money I get from the sales, I am using to invest in card making supplies. Once I get my items in the mail, I will do a haul video.
Well, thanks for reading my ramblings. 🙂
