I have been a mini album creator for the past 5 years or so and have neglected my craftiness of creating cards. Many a moon ago, I used to be on design teams creating cards with techniques that are still being used today. After taking a long break, sitting back and thinking about where I want to go with this hobby. I used to scrapbook, then cards, then mini albums. Albums take a long time to create and a whopper ton of supplies. I have decided to scale back a bit and step into creating cards again. They can be simple to make, taking less than a few hours at a time and much less supplies.
When I started this card project, I realized I am a bit rusty. I scale things on a mini album level and had to rethink card making. I started today’s project using the Heartfelt Creations shadow boxes in white to make two Christmas cards.
I used the Holly Festive paper pack as well as the Winter’s Eve paper line from Heartfelt Creations to create these two 6×6 cards. For each, I cut a white base from 12×12 cardstock.
For the Festive Holly card, I used the lamp post die and the holly stamp and die to create the focal points. I used Memento Evergreen Ink on the leaves, then covered them with Wink O Stella. For the berries, I colored white pearls with a red Sharpie pen to make the red berries. I die cut a lamp from the paper and popped it up on foam dots. I framed the shadow box with poinsettias that I purchased from Hobby Lobby and covered with my sparkle pen by Crafter’s Companion.
For the second card, I used paper from the Winter’s Eve paper collection. I created a 6×6 card and used one of the images from the paper as the focal. I framed the opening with bling. The flowers I made with the poinsettias die and a mix of pigment inks and memento inks. The flowers have Wink O Stella and snowflakes on them. I used glossy accents on the angel wings and the ornaments.
I know that practice makes perfect, and I want to do some crafting each day. Cards are a nice way to do something during the week that is fast and still give me time to make something. Well, that will do it for today. Thanks so much for stopping by.
